The Dough: 2 cups maida or refined flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp baking powder
The Filling: 1 cup carrots (ground), 1 cup cabbage (ground), 1 tbsp oil, 1/2 cup onion (finely cleaved), 1 tsp garlic (slashed), 1 tsp soya sauce, Salt, 1/4 tsp vinegar, 1/4 tsp dark pepper.
How to Make Vegetable Momos
- Make a mixture of the maida, salt and baking powder, then knead it into a stiff dough with water.
- Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onion and garlic.
- Saute over a high flame then add the chopped carrots and cabbage. Stir over high heat till glossy.
- Take the pan off the stove and mix in the soya sauce, salt, vinegar and black pepper.
- Roll the dough till it is thin (translucent) and cut into 4″-5″ rounds.
- Take the round, wet the edges and place some filling in the center.
- Bring the edges together to make a cover over the filling. Twist to seal and fill the rest of the rounds in the same way.
- Steam for nearly 10 minutes and your vegetable momos will be ready to eat. Serve with soya sauce and chili sauce.
